PRE-K

From 4 years

The last year before kindergarten, and the one where the gap between children widens fastest. Some arrive reading; some arrive still learning to ask for help. Both need the year, and both leave ready.

By the End of the Year, Most Children Can

Manage themselves socially, sharing, waiting, resolving conflict, asking for help

Read and write their own name and three-letter words

Perform basic arithmetic

Participate in group discussions and follow multi-step instructions

Recognize rhymes, sort and categorize, and identify letter sounds

Move with confidence and coordination

How We Get There

Each child has personal growth goals, and their teacher tracks progress toward them through the year. You'll get a written development review twice a year covering where your child stands and what's next.

Beyond Academics

Daily time in the gym, plus playground time and walks to neighborhood Newton parks

Weekly music and weekly art with dedicated teachers, included in tuition

Optional Soccer Shots, Art in Motion, and Tech Pals, available for an additional fee

Children whose fifth birthday falls after September may stay in the Pre-K classroom until age six.

Come See the Pre-K Room

Tours run during the school day, so you'll see the classroom in use.
